Genetically modified (GM) crops have had changes introduced into their DNA using advanced genetic engineering in order to increase yield production and resiliency.

However, there are many risks concerning GM crops such as the contamination of other nearby crops, the destroying of native wild plant populations, and the unintentional damage upon non-target species–all of which negatively impact genetic diversity.
