Overfishing

Overfishing is a form of overexploitation where fish stocks are reduced to below acceptable levels. According to World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), more than 85% of the fisheries in the world have been pushed to or beyond their biological limits. [4]

Video summary: Many people around the world rely on fish as their main daily source of protein. To keep up with the demand, the oceans are being overfished at incredibly high rates, which could lead to the collapse of nearly all fish species. This video explains the problems of bycatch, farmed fish, and ineffective fishing limit guidelines. To end overfishing, citizens need to support and encourage their representatives in the government to heed the scientists’ recommendations and make smart decisions regarding fishing limits.
